Glendevon/Dollar

Distance: approx 7 miles to Glendevon, another 4.5 miles to Dollar

Difficulty: Moderate

Leave Duchally Country Estate by turning left out of the driveway. Follow this road for approximately 2 miles. The road turns sharply to the lefty and there is a road off to the right signposted Coulshill/Cloan. Take this right turn heading towards the hills.

The road climbs steeply here, up the hillside and past the house of Cloan before terminating at Coulshill farm. When you reach the end of this road, continue upo the right hand side of the glen on a farm track (signposted).

About 0.5m beyond Coulshill farm, there is a large stand of conifers on an otherwise bare hillside to your right, with a tributary of Coul Burn climbing the hill beyond them. Walk past the trees, turn up the left hand side of the tributary and follow the track which leads away from it. This will lead you to the highest point of the route, in a shallow saddle between 2 small rounded peaks. From this point the path continuers downhill; through the Borland Glen, eventually joining the A823 by the Youth Hostel at the north end of Glendevon village.

Additional:

A nice place to stop for a drink and something to eat is the Tormaukin Inn. Turn left at the hostel and walk along the road for a few hundred yards round the corner.

From here you can either walk back or continue to Dollar, Glensherup of visit Glen Quey and its reservoir.

By turning left at the hostel, head along the road and just before the road curves to the left, there is a sign to Dollar. Head down the steps and over the bridge. Then  across the field to the right, head through the first gate and to the right. The road turns left and there is another gate, head up the hill after this, where it is signposted top various walks.
